Man extradited to Tasmania for historical sex offences

A 72-year-old man has been extradited to Tasmania after members of the Victorian Sexual Offences and Child-Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) arrested him at a Langwarrin (Victorian) address on Wednesday.

The man was extradited back to Tasmania this morning by detectives from Bellerive Criminal Investigation Branch and charged with persistent sexual abuse of a child or young person x1 and indecent assault x3.

The man has been detained to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court this afternoon.
