Man faces court after investigation into abduction and assault - Northmead

A man will face court today charged as part of an ongoing investigation into a violent assault and abduction in Sydney's west earlier this year.

About 7.30pm on Monday 6 April 2020, police received reports that a man had been abducted from the front of a unit complex at Windsor Road, Northmead.

Following initial inquiries by officers from The Hills Police Area Command, the matter was referred to the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Strike Force Olliff was established to investigate the incident.

The following day (Tuesday 7 April 2020), a search within the missing 35-year-old man's Northmead apartment was conducted, where police located and seized over $50,000 cash, two money counting machines and steroids.

About 8.45pm, the man was located on Lombard Street, Northmead, with injuries to his face and body.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives arrested the man at Castle Hill Police Station about 9am on Tuesday 7 July 2020.

He was charged with possess prohibited drug and deal with property proceeds of crime.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 29 July 2020).

Investigations under Strike Force Olliff are continuing.
