Man facing 12 charges for aggravated break and enter, motor vehicle offences at Dubbo

A man has been charged following investigations into multiple break and enters and car theft in the Orana Region.

About 11pm (Saturday 4 January 2020), three men allegedly forced entry into two vehicles on Elizabeth Street, Dubbo, where nothing was stolen.

About 11.30pm (Saturday 4 January 2020), the group allegedly forced entry into a house located on Currawong Street, Dubbo, and stole a handbag containing loose change plus keys to the car and house.

The owners were home asleep at the time and were uninjured.

The trio allegedly stole a vehicle located outside the property and attended a service station on Whylandra Street where a purchase was allegedly made using a stolen credit card.

About 3am, police received reports that a car was conducting burnouts at a field on East Street before a vehicle was set on fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW responded and extinguished the fire.

Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

About 11.30pm on Monday (7 January 2020), investigators arrested a 20-year-old man at a home on Alcheringa Street, Dubbo.

He was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with:

Enter vehicle without consent of owner/occupier x 2

Enter enclosed land not premises without lawful excuse

Enter land commit indictable offence

Larceny

Aggravated break and enter dwelling in company intend steal

Steal motor vehicle

Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner

Dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception

Damage property by fire

Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence

Carry cutting weapon upon apprehension.

The man appeared in Dubbo Local Court on Tuesday (7 January 2020), where he was refused bail to appear at the same court on Wednesday 11 March 2020.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing and police would like to speak with two males who may be able to assist with inquiries.

They are described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance, both in their late teens with slim builds, approximately 165cm tall with dark hair.
