Man facing court after fatal

A man will face court later today after the death of a woman following a serious multi-vehicle crash in Ermington overnight.

Shortly after 11.30pm (Friday 27 September 2019), emergency services were called to River Road, near Victoria Road, Ermington, after reports a Mitsubishi Triton ute, a Daihatsu, and a Mazda 3 have collided.

A 48-year-old woman, who was the driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi Triton, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Daihatsu – a 24-year-old man, and his two female passengers – aged 25 and 28, sustained various injuries and were taken to Westmead Hospital. The 25-year-old woman later died.

The 31-year-old male driver of the Mazda 3, and his 25-year-old female passenger were not hurt in the crash.

Following inquiries by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit, a 24-year-old man was taken to Granville Police Station on his release from hospital.

A 24-year-old man was charged with dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, cause bodily harm by misconduct, negligent driving cause death and negligent driving cause grievous bodily harm.

His licence was also suspended. The Auburn man was refused bail prior to his appearance at Parramatta Bail Court later today (Saturday 28 September 2019)
