Man hospitalised after assault with baseball bat - Cromer

Police are investigating after a man was assaulted with a baseball bat in his Cromer home in Sydney's northern beaches overnight.

About 8.30pm (Wednesday 6 October 2021), a man armed with a baseball bat entered an unlocked front door of a house in Toronto Avenue.

The man approached the 50-year-old male resident and began hitting him with the bat before fleeing the house.

Emergency service attended and the injured man was treated at the scene before he was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital suffering head and arm injuries. He remains in a stable condition.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command secured a crime scene and commenced a search with the assistance of the Dog Unit and PolAir.

A bat was located in a nearby creek and has been seized for forensic examination.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
