A man will appear in court today after a clandestine laboratory was located in Picnic Point yesterday, which is alleged to have been operating while two children were at the premises, NSW Police say.
Strike Force Lovelle was established by officers from State Crime Command’s Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad to investigate the alleged large-scale manufacture and supply of illicit drugs in the area.
Following inquiries, about 8.30am yesterday, strike force officers attended a home on Burns Road and spoke to a 37-year-old man at the address.
A search warrant was then executed at the home where it is alleged police located a clandestine laboratory.
A crime scene was established which is being examined by forensic officers. The clan lab will be dismantled by the State Crime Command’s Drug Squad, Chemical Operations Team.
The man was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with drug offences including manufacture a large commercial quantity of prohibited drug (expose children), possess tablet press for manufacture and possess drug manufacture apparatus.
The man was refused bail and will appear at Bankstown Local Court today.
Police will allege two children, aged one and five, were living at the premises during the operation of the laboratory. The Department of Family and Community Services has been notified.
