Man In Court After Hurstville Pursuit

A man is due in court charged after a pursuit and crash in Hurstville yesterday.

Detectives attached to St George Police Area Command attempted to stop a blue ute on Forest Road about 10.20am yesterday (Monday 28 July 2025), when they saw a man allegedly wanted for breach of bail.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit the utility allegedly hit a bus and a SUV before stopping near Bridge Street.

A 71-year-old woman – one of 37 passengers on the bus – was taken to St George Hospital to be checked as a precaution, while

three people in the SUV – a 28-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman and a baby – were checked by NSW Ambulance paramedics but did not require treatment.

A 45-year-old man was arrested after allegedly running from the ute; he was also taken to St George Hospital for mandatory testing under police guard before being released and taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with five offences as well as the breach of bail,

  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
  • Not give particulars to other driver
  • Supply prohibited drug (two counts), and
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

He's been refused bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court later today (Tuesday 29 July 2025).
