Man in court after loaded pistol, cash, drugs seized - Greenacre

A man has been charged after Bankstown detectives seized a loaded pistol, ammunition and cash from a home in Sydney's south-west.

Detectives from Bankstown Police Area Command established Strike Force Polar to target drug supply, manufacture and mid-level organised crime within the South West Metropolitan Region.

As part of investigations, police conducted a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) and Weapons Prohibition Order (WPO) search at a home on Macquarie Street, Greenacre, about 8.30am yesterday (Tuesday 8 June 2021)

During the search officers seized a loading pistol, cocaine, $47,000 cash and ammunition.

Each of the items will be forensically examined by specialist police.

A 41-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Bankstown Police Station.

He was charged with 12 offences including recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, possess unauthorised pistol, possess unregistered firearm-pistol, not keep firearm safely-pistol, two counts of possess ammunition, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, supply prohibited drug (between indictable and commercial quantity), and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

The man was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Wednesday 9 June 2021).

Investigations under Strike Force Polar continue.
