Man in court after shot fired, pursuit in Artarmon

A man has been charged after a shot was allegedly discharged towards a group of people at Artarmon yesterday morning, NSW Police say.

Police had been involved in a short pursuit with a silver Volkswagon along Barton Road, Artarmon, just before 12.30am yesterday (Thursday 30 November 2017), when it was terminated due to safety concerns.

About the same time, police were alerted to reports a shot had been fired in the vicinity immediately before the pursuit was initiated.

Police from North Shore Local Area Command established a crime scene and a round was found in a white Holden sedan parked on Barton Road.

Following inquiries, a black 4WD was stopped in Barton Road about 6pm, and a 26-year-old man arrested.

He was taken to Chatswood Police Station where he was charged with discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man, from Artarmon, has been refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court later today (Friday 1 December 2017).
