Man in court after spitting and kicking police - Cremorne

A man will face court after he allegedly spat at police during an arrest in Cremorne early this morning.

Just after 3am (Saturday 5 September 2020), police from North Shore Police Areas Command attended a house in Montague Street following reports of a domestic dispute.

Police have been told a 24-year-old man entered a locked a bedroom – where a man and woman were sleeping – and removed a bag and stole money.

It is further alleged a verbal argument ensued at the home between the 24-year-old and the woman, before the man spat in the woman's face. The man left the house and police were contacted.

The man returned to the home a short time later and became aggressive towards police after they place him under arrest. Police allege the man then spat at several officers as they attempted to handcuff him – directly into the face of one of the officers. It is further alleged he kicked the officer in the stomach.

He was taken to Chatswood Police Station and charged with assault police, resist arrest, not comply with noticed direction (spitting), common assault (DV), aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence and malicious damage.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 6 September 2020).
