Man in court following stabbing and assault, NSW

A man will face court today after it is alleged he stabbed a man and assaulted two others in the Brisbane Water Local Area Command overnight, NSW Police say.

About 6.45pm today, a 21-year-old man was walking with a friend on Morris Street, Umina Beach when he was confronted by a 19-year-old man after stopping his car.

Police have been told the younger man produced a knife and allegedly slashed the other man to the abdomen and hand.

The injured man was able to seek refuge at a nearby caravan; however, it is further alleged the same man entered the caravan with a glass bottle allegedly threatening to further harm him. The armed man was forced from the caravan by the occupants and left in his car.

Police have been told the same man drove to Ridge Street, Ettalong Beach and allegedly commenced to perform burnouts. It is further alleged a 25-year-old resident approached the driver about his manner of driving and was assaulted causing minor injuries. Another female resident attempted to intervene and was also allegedly assaulted.

Police were contacted and attended both locations.

About 8.45pm the 19-year-old man was arrested in Trafalgar Avenue at Umina Beach. He was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with reckless wounding, aggravated break and enter, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

He was refused bail and will appear in Gosford Local Court tomorrow.
