Man in critical condition after armed robbery and stabbing - Homebush West

A man is in a critical conditional following an armed robbery and stabbing in Homebush West last night.

Police have been told about 9.20pm (Sunday 17 March 2019), two men – aged 29 and 30 – attended Flemington Railway Station on The Crescent, Homebush West, where they arranged to purchase two mobile phones that were advertised online.

They met with two males and asked to see the phones prior to paying, when one of the men snatched a sum of cash from the younger man and ran away.

Following a chase, an altercation took place, where the younger man suffered stab wounds to his back and stomach.

The two men fled the scene with the cash.

About 10.20pm, the injured man and his friend attended Concord Hospital, where police were contacted.

Officers from Auburn Police Area Command, with assistance from Burwood Police Area Command, established a crime scene and would like to speak with two men who may be able to assist with inquiries.

They have been described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, with short dark hair and trimmed beards. They were last seen driving east on The Crescent.
