Man in critical condition after collision - North West NSW

An elderly man is in a critical condition following a serious motor vehicle collision in the states north-west yesterday.

Just before 5.30pm (Friday 6 December 2019), emergency services were called to the New England Highway in Guyra, north of Armidale, after two cars collided.

Police were told that a Toyota Hilux, travelling north, collided with a Mitsubishi Verada, travelling south on the highway.

The Mitsubishi rolled with the 72-year-old driver trapped inside the vehicle. He was conveyed to Armidale Hospital in a critical condition and later airlifted to John Hunter Hospital.

The driver of the Toyota, a 23-year-old male, sustained abdominal injuries and was also taken to Armidale Hospital.
