Man in critical condition after pedestrian incident

At 6:30pm on Sunday 9 January, an incident occurred outside the All Things Nice Bakery, located at the intersection of Tarleton Street and Torquay Road, East Devonport.

A 49-year-old man was struck by a vehicle on the footpath outside the bakery. The vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux utility, was being driven by another 49-year-old man at the time.

The driver of the utility was taken into custody by police at the scene and is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

The victim was transported to hospital via Ambulance Tasmania, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Initial police investigations indicate that this was a targeted incident and the men involved are known to each other.

Tarleton Street was partially closed to the public for a period of time, whilst Forensic and Crash Investigation Services examined the scene.

Police investigations are ongoing.
