Man in custody after armed robbery

A 20 year old Berriedale man remains in custody following an alleged armed robbery at a Hobart pharmacy today.

Police were called to the Guardian Pharmacy in Main Road, Montrose, about 9.05am today after a man allegedly demanded property.

Upon police arrival at the pharmacy, the man allegedly produced a knife.

Police attempted to negotiate with the man, who was taken into custody a short time later.

The man was not injured during the incident. No staff members at the pharmacy or members of the public were physically injured.

Two police officers were injured during the incident and are receiving medical treatment.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
