Man in custody after car crashes into Lightning Ridge Police Station

A man is in custody after a car crashed into Lightning Ridge Police Station this morning.

Officers attached to Central North Police District were alerted after a Toyota Camry crashed through a front fence and into the foyer of the building on Opal Street about 5.10am (Tuesday 17 November 2020).

A 38-year-old Lightning Ridge man has been arrested at the scene and remains in custody.

The building has sustained serious damage to the front doors and foyer; it was unmanned at the time.

Inquiries are continuing.
