A man has come forward to police following an alleged hit-run in Ardeer last night.
Police believe the female victim was allegedly struck by a black Holden Commodore VT on Ballarat Road before her body was located about 7.40pm.
The victim is yet to be formally identified.
The 31-year-old Cairnlea man came forward to police early this morning and is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
The westbound lane of Ballarat Road is currently closed between the Western Ring Road and Hulett Street and police are asking motorists to avoid the area.
