Man in custody after liquor store robbed in Armidale

A man remains in custody as inquiries continue into the alleged armed robbery of a liquor store in Armidale overnight, NSW Police say.

Police will allege it was about 7.45pm (Sunday 21 October 2018), when a man entered the store on Beardy Street, Armidale, and threatened the attendant demanding cash.

He allegedly took the cash – and a bottle of vodka – and ran from the store.

Officers from New England Police District were alerted and began searching for the man.

About 10.30pm, a 33-year-old man was arrested on a cycleway on Markham Street, Armidale, and was taken to Armidale Police Station where he remains in custody.

Inquiries are continuing.
