A person has been taken into custody following a reported wounding incident at Newnham this afternoon.
Police and emergency services were called to an address in Tompsons Lane about 2.45pm after reports a man had been stabbed.
The victim was taken to the Launceston General Hospital with serious injuries.
A man was quickly taken into custody at the scene.
Police remain at the scene and there is no threat to the wider community.
