A man has been injured after he was struck by a car in Sydney’s south overnight, NSW Police say.
Emergency services were called to Forest Road, Bexley, just after 10pm yesterday (Thursday 14 December 2017), following reports a utility had struck a man and fled the scene.
Upon arrival police have been told a Nissan Dualis and a Nissan Navara, had been travelling together prior to the incident.
It will be alleged a utility had struck the back of the Nissan Dualis, and stopped briefly before accelerating away.
As the utility attempted to drive away, the Navara and Dualis attempted to stop the car leaving by remaining stationary in both lanes of the road. The utility stopped, and the driver of the Navara, a 53-year-old man, exited the car.
The utility driver then accelerated away, hitting the 53-year old man and fleeing the scene.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital with fractured ribs and a laceration to his head.
Officers attached to St George Local Area Command commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The vehicle has been described to police as being an older model white ute with a silver tray.
Inquiries are continuing and investigators have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
