Man injured during street robbery - Lidcombe

Police are investigating after a man was seriously injured during a street robbery at Lidcombe this morning.

About 1:15am (Monday 11 March 2019), a man and a woman, both aged 49, were robbed by three men as they walked along Doddson Avenue, Lidcombe.

Police have been told that during the robbery the man hit his head as he was tackled to the ground by two of the men

At the same time, the third man stole a bag and a phone from the woman; she was not injured.

The men then fled in a Mazda SUV which was parked nearby.

Officers from Auburn Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital with a head injury. He's reported to be in a stable condition.

Inquiries continue and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage from Doddson Avenue, Lidcombe, to contact Auburn Police.
