Man injured, East Toowoomba

Police are investigating after a man was injured during an altercation at an East Toowoomba home last night.

At around 8pm a group of approximately 9 people attended a residence on Curzon Street and made demands for money from the two male occupants. At least one of the people in the group was known to them.

The residents refused entry to the group and an altercation occurred, during which a 54-year-old was struck in the head with a glass object and shot in the hip with a small calibre projectile from a firearm.

The group then fled the scene and the man was transported to Toowoomba Hospital where he is receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a vehicle or a group of people leaving the Curzon Street area of East Toowoomba shortly after 8pm last night to come forward.
