Man injured in apparent accidental shooting in Coolah

A man has been injured in what is believed to be an accidental shooting in the state’s Central West this morning, NSW Police say.

About 8am today, six friends were in remote bushland off Black Stump Way at Coolah.

Police have been told the group were hunting, when a 24-year-old man was accidentally shot in the buttock.

The injured man was flown to John Hunter Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.

Officers from Mudgee Local Area Command are investigating the incident and have interviewed a 44-year-old man, who has since been released.

Police have also seized the man’s Firearms Licence and firearms as their investigations continue.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
