Man injured in stabbing in Marrickville

A man has been taken to hospital after a domestic related stabbing incident at Marrickville overnight, NSW Police say.

Throughout Thursday 30 November 2017, three people at a home in View Street consumed alcohol.

As a result of several verbal altercations a 51-year-old man left the premises while a 53-year-old woman remained.

About 11.30pm the man returned to the home where the woman allegedly verbally abused him and slapped and punched him to the head.

The woman reportedly lunged at the man with a knife causing wounds to his left wrist and left upper rib.

The injured man was able to leave the home and attended a nearby home where emergency services were contacted.

The man was treated at the scene and conveyed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition. He has since undergone surgery for a punctured lung where he remains in a stable condition.

Police from Marrickville attended and established a crime scene seizing several items for further forensic examination.

About 1.00am today (Friday 1 December 2017) police arrested the 53-year-old woman.

She was taken to Newtown Police Station where she was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

She was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court on Thursday 18 January, 2018.
