Man injured in suspicious house fire in Lambton

A man has been injured following a suspicious house fire near Newcastle early this morning, NSW Police say.

About 1.40am tomorrow, emergency services were called to Johnson Street, Lambton, following reports of a house fire.

Police from Newcastle City Local Area Command attended and located the occupant, a 26-year-old man, outside the home with burns to his legs.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital.

Officers from Fire & Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze; however, the majority of the house was damaged.

A crime scene was established and will be examined by forensic officers.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
