Man killed on pedestrian crossing at Armidale

A 76-year-old man has died after being hit by a car while using a pedestrian crossing on Markham St, Armidale today (Friday 9 August 2019) just after midday.

New England Police District and emergency services attended the scene, where the man was treated for serious head injuries and transported to hospital in a critical condition. He later died.

The 46-year-old female driver was breath tested at the scene and returned a negative result. She was transported to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

A crime scene has been established and New England police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Investigations are continuing.
