Man loses finger in machete attack in Carramar

A man has lost a finger after being attacked with a machete at Carramar this morning, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to a home unit on River Avenue about 5.20am (Wednesday 5 December 2018), and found a man being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The 43-year-old man has told police he was attacked in his unit by a man armed with a machete.

The man has lost a finger in the assault, he has a severe injury to his left arm and extensive cuts to other parts of his body.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command have been told while the man’s injuries are serious, they are not believed to be life-threatening.

The man is now in a serious but stable condition in Liverpool Hospital.

A crime scene has been established and a search is now underway for the man believed responsible.

It is believed the men are known to each other and this is being treated as a targeted attack.
