Man missing from Wollongong located

A man missing from the Wollongong area has been located.

The 31-year-old man was last spoken to by a friend about 3.30pm yesterday (Friday 1 October 2021).

He was reported missing to officers from Wollongong Police District last night when he was unable to be located.

An extensive search involving police from the Lake Illawarra and Wollongong Police Districts, the NSW Police Trail Bike Unit, PolAir, and State Emergency Service and Rural Fire Service officers commenced a search of the Illawarra escarpment.

About 1.45pm today (Saturday 2 October 2021), the man was located in the vicinity of Mount Kembla by officers from the NSW Police Trail Bike Unit.

The man was extracted from bushland by NSW Ambulance Paramedics and taken to St George Hospital for treatment.
