Man on roof arrested at Old Reynella, South Australia

A man has been arrested after allegedly throwing roof tiles at police at Old Reynella last night.

About 6pm on Saturday 9 January police were called to Burgoyne Drive, Old Reynella by reports of a man causing damage to vehicles on the road.

When police arrived the man climbed onto the roof a house and began throwing the tiles at police, neighbouring properties and vehicles.

Patrols quickly set up cordons and local residents were advised to stay indoors.

It will be alleged that one of the roof tiles stuck a police officer but luckily no injuries were cause. Damage was also caused to several police vehicles, houses and a laundromat.

The man came down after two and a half hours without incident.

The 20-year-old Glenelg man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault police and property damage.

It is anticipated that he will be refused police bail to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday 11 January.
