Man remains critical after assault at Gladesville

Police are investigating a serious assault that occurred inside a unit at Gladesville this morning that's left a man in a critical condition.

About 8.25am (Monday 23 March 2020), a man and woman were sleeping inside their Wharf Road unit when they were woken by a man standing beside their bed who had climbed through the bedroom window.

The intruder grabbed a guitar found inside the room and hit the man over the head before running from the unit.

The 36-year-old man suffered critical head injuries and was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

He remains in intensive care.

The 31-year-old woman was uninjured.

Police are now seeking help from the public to locate a man who they believe can assist with inquiries. He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged between 30-35, with light brown hair and a long beard.
