Man rescued from garbage truck

Kerang CFA volunteers rescued a man from a garbage truck after the skip bin he had been sleeping in was emptied in the back of a rubbish truck.

The skip bin at the back of a Vinnies op shop was tipped into the rubbish truck about 7.50am. At the next stop, the driver noticed a man had been tipped into the truck, and called emergency services for help.

Ramon Steel, the CFA brigade captain at Kerang, said the the man had been relatively unhurt after a soft landing in the garbage truck but they it had been too slippery for him to make his own way out.

CFA volunteers used a ladder to help the man exit the truck.
