A man has been charged with being over six times the legal blood alcohol limit after a crash at Rockdale in February, NSW Police say.
About 4.45pm on Saturday 24 February 2018, a 58-year-old man was driving a Ford Falcon east on King Street, Rockdale, when the car collided with a pedestrian refuge, knocking over a steel barrier, before driving away on the incorrect side of the road.
Police were called and attended the address of the man, finding him in a semi-conscious state with minor injuries.
He was taken to St George Hospital by ambulance where a sample of blood was obtained from him.
An analysis of the blood subsequently revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.363, over six times the legal limit.
As a result, the man was arrested at his home about 3.35pm yesterday (Sunday 18 March 2018).
He was taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with high range PCA, drive under the influence, and wilfully alter blood/alcohol concentration after a crash.
His licence was suspended and confiscated by police.
He was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Monday 19 March 2018).
