Man robbed at Ringwood Lake

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man playing pokemon was robbed at the Ringwood Lake on Sunday, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told a 60-year-old man attended the lake on Maroondah Highway searching for ‘pokemon’ on his mobile phone about 6.30pm.

It is believed he was approached by a group of four or five youths on the bridge when one male demanded he hand over his personal belongings.

The offenders punched and kicked the man who then handed over his mobile phone and wallet.

The victim, a Ringwood East man, jumped into the lake and swam to shore to get away from the group.

He received facial injuries and was taken to hospital.

The male offenders believed to be aged in their early 20s, fled the scene.

Maroondah Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and are keen to speak to any witnesses who may have been at the lake at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
