Man seriously injured during church break-in, SA

A man is undergoing surgery after injuring himself while allegedly trying to break into a church overnight, according to SA Police.

A resident heard screams for help coming from the church in Chambers Street, Park Holme about 3.15am on Tuesday 10 January and alerted police.

A patrol arrived within minutes and found a man had cut himself on glass while trying to break into the church. He had sustained a serious laceration to his lower leg and had lost a lot of blood. An ambulance had already been called and conveyed the man to the Flinders Medical Centre where he is currently undergoing surgery.

His injury is no longer considered life-threatening.

Sturt Police will speak to the 29-year-old Marion man in coming days about the alleged break-in.
