Man shot by police after carjacking

A man has been shot by police following an incident in Norlane this afternoon.

Officers received a report of a carjacking in in Iona Street about 3.50pm where a man in his 70s was threatened with a firearm and pulled from his vehicle.

The offender drove off in the Holden Commodore and police were notified.

It's alleged the stolen car was found in Warrawee Avenue about 4.25pm.

Officers approached and were confronted by a man with a firearm who was subsequently shot by police.

He has been taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Professional Standards Command have been notified and will be attending as is normal when a police shooting occurs.
