Man shot; charges laid at Albury

A man will appear in court charged after a man was hospitalised with a gunshot wound in the state's south at the weekend.

About 5am yesterday (Sunday 2 May 2021), emergency services were called to a home on Holmwood Crescent, Albury, after reports of a shooting.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and found a 24-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to the face.

He was treated by paramedics and taken to Albury Base Hospital before later being transferred to a Melbourne Hospital for further treatment. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 23-year-old man at a Thurgoona home about 2.45pm yesterday.

He was taken to Albury police Station and charged with shoot at with intent to murder, discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possess loaded firearm endanger life non-public place, possess unregistered firearm - prohibited firearm, and use unregistered firearm - prohibited firearm

The man was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court today (Monday 3 May 2021).
