Man sought as inquiries continue into woman's death at Bellambi, NSW

Detectives investigating the death of a woman at Bellambi early yesterday would like to speak with a man they believe can assist with their inquiries, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to a home on Lorking Street just after 1am (Friday 5 October 2018), where they found the body of 39-year-old Kristie Powell.

Kristie’s five-month-old son was found uninjured inside the home.

Officers from Wollongong Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Local officers are being assisted by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Following inquiries, detectives are seeking a man who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

Bhanu Kirkman, aged 29, is described as being of Indian / Sub-Continental appearance, approximately 180cm to 185cm tall, with a large build and black hair.

Kirkman is known to frequent the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Sydney areas.

Anyone who sees Bhanu Kirkman is urged not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.
