Man stabbed at Coffs Harbour

An investigation is underway after a man was stabbed on the state's Mid North Coast yesterday.

Just before 9.30pm (Saturday 29 May 2021), a 22-year-old man was reportedly walking south on Grafton Street, Coffs Harbour, when he was approached by a man – not known to him.

After a brief conversation, he was stabbed in the back before the armed man fled, last seen on Park Avenue.

Police were notified and officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District attended, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The injured man was treated before being taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Detectives have commenced an investigation and as inquiries continue would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man has been described as being about 180cm tall, of a slim build, and with a short brown beard. He was wearing an orange/red coloured hooded jumper, blue trackpants and black shoes at the time.
