Man stabbed - Blackalls Park

A man remains in hospital after he was allegedly slashed during a confrontation in Lake Macquarie.

About 2am today (Thursday 31 December 2020), police have been told three men – aged 21, 23 and 26 – were outside a home on Faucett Street, Blackalls Park, when an argument occurred between them.

Police will allege in court the youngest man slashed the oldest man's right arm with a large knife, causing a deep laceration.

The 26-year-old was driven by a friend to Toronto Private Hospital before being transported to John Hunter Hospital for surgery. He is currently in a serious but stable condition.

Hospital staff alerted police and officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Both the 21 and 23-year-old men were arrested at the scene and taken to Toronto Police Station.

The younger man was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The Blackalls Park man was refused bail to appear at Toronto Local Court tomorrow (Friday 1 January 2021).

The 23-year-old was released pending further inquiries.
