Man stabbed in attempted robbery in Lakemba

Police are investigating after a man was stabbed during an attempted robbery at Lakemba, NSW Police say.

About 9.10pm (Friday 5 October 2018), a 41-year-old man was at his home on Taylor Street, Lakemba, when another man attended the home because he claimed he wanted to view a mobile phone that had been listed for sale.

The man who attended the home produced a knife and tried to leave with the phone without paying for it.

As a result, an altercation occurred, during which the 41-year-old received lacerations to his hands and neck.

The man with the knife then fled the scene with another male who was waiting outside. The mobile phone was left at the address.

Officers from Campsie Police District attended and established a crime scene.

The victim was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment to the wounds. The injury to his hand will require surgery.

The man with the knife has been described as Asian appearance, aged 18-20, short dark hair, and he was wearing a black Adidas jacket and grey trousers.

Inquiries continue, no arrests have yet been made.
