Man suffers serious burns after striking powerlines, NSW

A man has suffered serious burns after his clothes caught fire while he was operating a scissor lift in Sydney’s west, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to a work site on Glossop Street, St Marys, just before 10.30am today (Monday 28 May 2018), following reports a man inside a scissor lift had been injured after striking powerlines.

The man, believed to in his 20s, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.

His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command will be assisting SafeWork NSW with inquiries into the events leading up to the incident.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
