Gold Coast detectives are investigating an altercation at a Hope Island licensed premises last night (September 24) that left a man hospitalised with a serious head injury, Queensland Police say.
Police will allege that around 6.45pm two men were involved in a verbal argument at the Gleneagles Drive business which escalated into a physical confrontation during which time one of the men was punched in the face.
A 56-year-old Hope Island man fell backwards striking his head on the ground. He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
Investigations are continuing.
