A man and two teenagers will face court following alleged aggravated break and enters in the state's New England region.
Officers attached to New England Police District attended an address on Earle Page Drive, Armidale, about 3pm Wednesday 20 May 2026, where they allegedly located and arrested an 18-year-old man in the garage.
Two boys – aged 14 and 15 – allegedly attempted to flee police and were arrested in the backyard. At the time of their arrest, both teenagers were allegedly in possession of gloves – with the older boy also possessing a balaclava.
Police allege the three males were involved in unrelated aggravated break and enter incidents in the Armidale area in prior months.
The trio was taken to Armidale Police Station where the 18-year-old man was charged by virtue of two outstanding warrants for the offences of,
- Fail to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgment (nine counts),
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000 (six counts),
- Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-people there (five counts),
- Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner (five counts),
- Breach of bail (four counts),
- Attempted aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000 (two counts),
- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner (two counts), and
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner.
He appeared before a children's court yesterday (Thursday 21 May 2026), where he was formally refused bail to reappear at a children's court on Thursday 4 June 2026.
The 14-year-old was charged with,
- Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner (three counts),
- Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-people there,
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company intend steal less than or equal to $60,000, and
- Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Monday 22 June 2026.
The older boy was charged with possess housebreaking implements and breach of bail.
He was refused bail and faced a children's court yesterday (Thursday 21 May 2026), where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at a children's court on Thursday 4 June 2026.
