Man to face court after committing act of cruelty upon dog - Inner West

A man will face court next month after social media footage depicting animal cruelty to a dog in Sydney's Inner West was circulated.

About 11am today (Friday 30 August 2019) police and RSPCA inspectors attended an address in Sydenham in relation to social media footage depicting animal cruelty to a dog.

As a result of those inquiries, the dog was seized by NSW Police and a 51-year-old man was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for commit an act of cruelty upon an animal (Section 5 (1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act).

He will appear in Newtown Local Court on Thursday 19 September 2019.

The dog is now in the care of RSPCA veterinary staff. Further inquiries continue in relation to the matter.
