Man to face court over aggravated sexual assault near Armidale

A man will face court today charged over allegedly sexually assaulting another man in the state's north.

Officers from New England Police District were called to a home near Armidale, following reports a 33-year-old man had been sexually assaulted by a man not known to him yesterday (Sunday 27 October 2019).

The 33-year-old man was taken to Armidale Hospital in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, a 37-year-old man was arrested at a home in Uralla.

He was taken to Armidale Police Station, where he was charged with five counts of aggravated sexual assault – deprive liberty, and aggravated sexual assault – inflict actual bodily harm on victim.

Police will allege in court that the 37-year-old South Australian man tied the other man up before sexually assaulting him.

The man was refused bail to appear at Armidale Local Court today (Monday 28 October 2019).
