Man under guard after hospital assault, crash in Blacktown

A man remains under police guard in hospital following an alleged assault, car-theft and multi-vehicle crash in Sydney’s west this morning, NSW Police say.

Police from Blacktown Local Area Command have been told a security guard was allegedly punched when he intervened in an argument between a 21-year-old man and a woman at Blacktown Hospital about 9.30am today.

The man then ran from the building into the car park when he allegedly stole car keys from an 80-year-old woman, and drove away in her vehicle.

Several cars parked in Wilton Drive, Doonside, were damaged when the stolen vehicle allegedly hit them before driving away. The car was found extensively damaged in nearby Hill End Road and the driver was arrested.

The Quakers Hill man has been taken to Blacktown Hospital for assessment and remains under guard.

The car has been towed for forensic examination.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
