Man wanted after threats in Gundagai

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a man involved in a domestic incident at Gundagai, NSW Police say.

About 9.30pm yesterday, a 46-year-old man became involved in an altercation with a 39-year-old woman during which threats were allegedly made.

About 12.35am today, police attended an address on Tom Street, Gundagai, with the intention of arresting the man, Anthony Bethune, in relation to the domestic violence incident.

On attending the home, information received caused police to establish a perimeter and negotiators as well as other specialist resources attended the scene.

During a search of a caravan owned by the man police located two firearms.

About 12.30pm today, the man was found not to be inside the premises.

Inquiries continue to locate Anthony Bethune, and police have released an image of him in the hope the public can assist in locating him.

He is considered dangerous. While the incident was targeted, anyone who sights Anthony Bethune is urged not to approach him but contact police immediately.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
