A man wanted on warrants in the ACT has been arrested after a police operation in Tumut.
About 7pm yesterday (Friday 18 January 2019), police from Riverina Police District received information that a 52-year-old man, wanted on warrants in the ACT for armed robbery and revocation of parole, was at a home in Kindred Street.
Riverina General Duties police, detectives, police negotiators, and SPSU officers attended the address during a subsequent operation to arrest the man.
Following about three hours of negotiation, he was arrested without incident.
During a subsequent search of the home, police allegedly located cannabis plants, a substance believed to be methamphetamine, prescription tablets, ammunition, an electronic control device, a sling shot and a quantity of cigarettes.
The man was taken to Tumut Police Station where he was charged with cultivate prohibited plant, possess prohibited drug (x2), possess prohibited weapon, possess ammunition without licence, and apprehension on warrant issued in another state.
He was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Bail Court today (Saturday 19 January 2019), where extradition proceedings are expected to take place.
