Manning Delegation Discusses Flood Recovery at NSW Parliament

NSW Nationals

Nationals Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, has welcomed a delegation of community, business, and industry representatives from the Manning Region to NSW Parliament House for a series of high-level meetings with the Premier, Treasurer, and key Ministers.

The delegation travelled to Sydney to advocate for urgent and ongoing support following the devastating May Flood Event, which devastated homes, small businesses, primary producers, and essential local industries across the Manning.

Mrs Thompson said she was proud to stand with the delegation and ensure the region's voice is heard at the highest levels of government.

"The May floods were one of the most damaging events our region has experienced in recent years," Mrs Thompson said.

"While families, farmers, and business owners have shown incredible resilience, the reality is that the Manning is still hurting. We need long-term support, targeted assistance, and a recovery framework that recognises the scale of the impact.

"We are calling on the government to extend disaster recovery grants, repair our critical infrastructure, further support our primary industries and ensure long-term planning for future flood mitigation so our communities will be better protected."

"Our community deserves a government that listens and responds. These meetings are an important step in making sure the Manning Region is not forgotten, and that real, practical assistance is delivered," she said.

"I will continue fighting every day for the families and businesses who are still rebuilding their lives. The Manning has always stood strong in the face of adversity, and I am committed to ensuring we receive the support needed to recover, rebuild and thrive."
