Man runover after falling from car bonnet north of Griffith, NSW

A man who had been riding on the bonnet of a car in Hillston, 100km north of Griffith, has sustained critical injuries after being runover, NSW Police say.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District have been told two men were riding on the bonnet of a car in High Street about 2am (Sunday 15 April 2018), when they told the driver to stop.

As the driver slowed, a 19-year-old man fell off the bonnet and was runover when he rolled under the vehicle.

The man, who is believed to be from Hillston, has been flown to Orange Base Hospital with multiple injuries and is reported to be in a serious condition.

Police arrested the driver, a 21-year-old man from Canada, after he returned a positive roadside breath test.

The driver has now returned an alleged breath analysis reading of 0.104 and has been charged with mid-range drink driving.

The second man reported to have been riding on the bonnet was not injured.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to call Griffith Police or Crime Stoppers.
